My personal quest for
efficiency......
(THIS IS MY HUMBLE HOUSE) (FIRST
ONE WITH 70,000 TAKES IT!)
1. I replaced all the bulbs in the
house with flourescents....
2. I bought a diesel VW Golf that
gets 51mpg on the highway and about 40 in town if I hammer on it...
I avg 46 mpg per tank.
3. I bought the diesel golf so I
could make my own bio-diesel for 43 cents a gallon instead of 3.35 a
gallon of diesel.
4. I bought a small solar cell to
wire up an outdoor lighting system for the driveway for my first
solar experiment.
5. I am investing in a small solar
powered water heater to heat my water instead of electric.(people in
a middle-eastern country have done this for years and saved enought
electricity to not build 5 nuculear power plants).(I've moved so
this is no longer the case)
6.The house is painted brown and
highly insulated to take advantage of the sun heating the house and
keeping it warm during the night.
7. I suscribe to homepower
magazine for new ideas. www.homepower.com
8. I use a Kerosene heater that
has a super high efficiency 1.5 gallons per 24 hrs at full
blast) with exhaust and intake outside of the house so there are no
fumes.... 300 gallons a year (max) to heat the house.
9. My aviation flashlights use
LED's for bulbs 20,000-40,000 hr bulb life and 1.5 volt N cells for
power... will run for weeks as opposed to my maglight that does not
last very long on bulbs or batteries.
10. I stay politically active with
research to see if anyone is wasting my tax money for pork barrel
projects and wastefull items.
I AM STILL WONDERING WHY NEW
YORK STATE OUTLAWED THE SALE OF NEW DIESEL CARS SINCE FROM THE WELL
TO THE WHEEL.... DIESEL HYBRIDS ARE ALMOST TIED WITH HYDROGEN
HYBRIDS!!! PROVING ONCE AGAIN THE LEGISLATORS IN NY STATE HAVE NO
CLUE WHATS GOING ON!!!
